SSM | The complete Jet Mill range for particle size reduction
The spiral jet mill is the most commonly used micronizer in the pharmaceutical industry. The absence of moving mechanical parts in the mill and its ease of dismantling make it a multi-product equipment for reducing the size of fine particles.
The raw material is introduced into the grinding chamber through a feed hopper equipped with a metering device by set of endless screws. The product thus dosed is injected into the grinding chamber (venturi system + feed nozzle). At the heart of the process, the micronization air generates turbulence causing the particles to collide with each other, and leading to their size reduction. At the end of their proper residence time in the chamber, the micronized particles escape through a central static classifier, to be collected by gravity in a connected container.

The SSM 20 and SSM 44 micronizers allow the micronization of batches of only a few grams for feasibility or laboratory tests.

The new configuration of the PILOT unit allows the use of different interchangeable micronizer modules according to the capacities to be treated. The assembly is intended to accommodate the three models SSM 66, SSM 100 and SSM 150, while the entire periphery remains the same regardless of the micronizer used. Thus the control system, the product supply, and even the filtration module remain common. The great flexibility of the PILOT line brings to the user the production of small quantities and the mastery of scale-up projections towards large capacity micronizers.
